XP Software is pleased to announce the newly created Award of xpertise and excellence to honor the outstanding work of XP Software Modelers around the world in water resource management. The Award of xpertise and excellence will be given to XP Software users for outstanding work in specialized and diverse applications in the planning and delivery of infrastructure improvements.

Diverse areas of projects for submissions will apply to:

Stormwater: Projects for consideration will reflect efforts to minimize impact on natural resources, analyze and correct old systems, and the design analysis for placement of new systems for uninterrupted stormwater conveyance.

Wastewater: A healthy society’s foundation rests on its sanitary sewer infrastructure. Projects for consideration range from providing reduction in chronic surcharging and related backups to the support of new development by means of gravity, vacuum, and low-pressure sewer systems.

Flooding and Floodplain Management: Worldwide flooding events reveal the need for comprehensive flood models to ensure our land and water’s sustainable use for generations to come. Modeling tools, such as xpswmm’s 1D/2D software, are able to predict the extent and duration of flooding in greater detail and help floodplain managers mitigate flooding in urban and rural areas. Projects for consideration will support extreme hydrological events or small basin management.

LID/WSUD (Low Impact Development/water Sensitive Urban Development): LID/WSUD practices conserve and preserve natural resources while reducing infrastructure and development costs. Projects for consideration incorporate a growing collection of innovative practices and technologies to overcome potential environmental impacts.

Recipients will receive:

• their choice of $350.00 Cash (USD), donation to a water or flood-related charity (such as WaterAid or American Red Cross), or a GPS System (up to $350.00, car or handheld type).
• a 1-day training voucher towards a Public Workshop (in the US, Canada, or Australia), or an online webinar session.
• a Certificate of Award (applicable to either the individual engineer or firm), a Plaque of Award for the organization
• recognition in industry publications, on the XP Software website, and within the XP Software email newsletter.
