xpstorm Modules

Additional add-on modules are available to further enhance the capabilities of xpstorm. Those modules are: Pumps and Orifices, Water Quality, GIS. Other add-ons available are xp2D, XP Viewer, Real-Time Control and Digital Terrain Module.

  • AutoCAD Module

The base module of xpstorm allows the user to interpret HPLG 1 plotter files from CAD packages or use typical digital photos such as .BMP .TIF .JPG for use as a background on which to overlay the drainage network.

The AutoCAD module extends this function to allow the direct import of DXF and DWG background files in real world coordinates.

  • Water Quality Module

This module adds the ability to generate both point and non-point pollutant loads, and to route these pollutants through the drainage network. This drainage network can also include the river system and therefore allows the user to analyze the effect of the water quality on the natural receiving water system.

  • Pumps and Orifices Module

The pumps and orifices module allows pumping stations and orifices to be modeled as part of the drainage network. Pumps operate based upon dynamic head, static head, well volume, or well depth. Orifices available are circular and rectangular, and can be constant or time varying.

  • Real Time Control Module

The generic real time module provides the ability to control any conduit, pump, weir orifice or rating curve from an unlimited number of sensors. The sensors can be any combination of nodes, conduits, pumps, weirs or orifices in the network. The parameters that can be controlled are flow, roughness, diameter, depth, pump start and stop elevations, pump speed factor, pump flow rates, well volumes, weir flow, weir crest elevation, weir surcharge elevation, weir length, weir discharge coefficient, orifice area and orifice discharge coefficient. Operators can be concatenated with Boolean operators, and parameters can be compared with other sensors or with absolute values. Real time control can be also be activated only during certain hours of the simulation, and the real time control device can turn on and/or off over a user-defined time period.

  • XP Viewer

Distribute your model to stakeholders in a read only format. Model simulations, including all scenarios may be viewed with downloadable free software.

  • DTM Module

The DTM module allows the graphical interface to create and contain an embedded digital terrain model (DTM) or surface model. The embedded triangular irregular network (TIN) can be created from manhole elevations, a file containing a series of X Y Z and (optional) string data or directly read from popular terrain modeling packages.

With the surface model incorporated into the project the user can create perspective views, drape geo-referenced images, obtain ground elevations automatically for nodes, cut cross sections for natural channels and view flooded results in 3D.
  • xp2D

A powerful feature of xpstorm with xp2D is its ability to dynamically link to any 1D model in an integrated fashion. The user sets up the model as a combination of 1D network linked to 2D domains as a single model.

xp2D is based on the TUFLOW program developed by WBM Oceanics Australia and The University of Queensland. TUFLOW has been the subject of extensive testing and validation. It is specifically orientated towards establishing the flow patterns in coast waters, estuaries, rivers, floodplains and urban areas where the flow patterns are essentially 2D in nature and would be awkward to represent using a 1D model.

xpstorm has incorporated the TUFLOW engine into a user-friendly graphical interface that guides the user through preprocessing of input data and the calculation of the model. All of xpstorm's familiar tools for generating tables, graphs, and animations are available for reviewing, analyzing and presenting model results. New 2D and 3D animation tools make it easy to present results to managers and decision makers.
